May 29, 2009 - Heaps-O-Fun
Late in May John Heaps had to chair a teacher's conference in Wheaton. He and Sheila met us for dinner at Meson Sabika in Naperville one evening after his ordeal.

I left from work to pick up Meg at the train in Wheaton. While waiting for the stoplight, I noticed a rather unusual 3-wheeled vehicle on the cross street. By the time I grabbed my camera & got a shot out the window it was heading away, so I've attempted to enlarge & enhance the little I captured. Cool car!

We got to Meson Sabika a little before the Heaps so I took a shot of the ducks at their pond and a couple of the sign out front. I played with the second photo of the sign in Photoshop. By dramatically increasing the color temperature of the image, it looks like sunset lighting even though this was taken only a few moments after the first shot. This was a trick I learned from Ian Dharma of Homeimage Photography while browsing through the metadata on some of the photos he took for Paul and Jennifer on their engagement photoshoot.

I got one candid photo of Meg, waiting for the Heaps to arrive. She just looks really pretty in that pose.

John and Shiela are always tons of fun. We had a great dinner and had a good time catching up, so the evening sort of zoomed by. After dinner we walked through downtown Naperville for a while and ended up on the riverwalk.

I pulled a couple more Photoshop tricks on the fountain photo and the covered bridge shot. The "Wall of Faces" photos reminded me of Dante, so I got a little carried away with Photoshop again.

We're looking forward to our next visit with the Heaps, although I don't know when that will be. Maybe we'll be in the Harrisburg neighborhood one of these days...
